1. Church Age

From Pentecost to the Rapture of the Church

  1. The Dark Ages

After the last of the apostles died, the Church entered what is called the Dark Ages. The early Church had been guided by the doctrine the apostles received, and pastors and elders poured that revelation into the people, raising up more ministers to the glory of God. This was God's order for His Church, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone.

When that apostolic guidance was no longer leading the Body of Christ, the Church went into a long season of obscurity with very few great moves of the Spirit. Paul had warned that after his departing grievous wolves would enter in, and that in the latter times some would depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Apostolic order was set aside, and false doctrines were brought into the household of faith.

The division that followed has made the truth hard for many to discern. Yet the call has not changed: to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints, and to continue stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine, as the first Church did.

    Scriptures: Ephesians 2:19-20; Acts 20:29-30; 1 Timothy 4:1; Jude 1:3; Acts 2:42

  2. 30 AD

    Day of Pentecost

    The Spirit poured out

The Day of Pentecost marked a pivotal moment in the establishment of the early church when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the disciples gathered in Jerusalem. Prior to this event, the apostles and other believers, including women and Mary the mother of Jesus, had returned from the Mount of Olives and continued together in prayer and supplication in an upper room.

When the day of Pentecost had fully come, all the believers were gathered with one accord in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from heaven like a rushing mighty wind that filled the entire house where they were sitting. There appeared unto them cloven tongues like fire, and it sat upon each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This manifestation of speaking in other tongues was not unknown languages but rather different languages from their own. There were devout Jews dwelling in Jerusalem from every nation under heaven, and when this was heard abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded because every man heard them speak in his own language. The people marveled that these Galileans could speak in the native tongues of Parthians, Medes, Elamites, dwellers in Mesopotamia, Judaea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, Libya, Rome, Crete, and Arabia, hearing them speak the wonderful works of God.

Peter explained this outpouring as the fulfillment of the prophecy spoken by Joel, declaring that God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, and that sons and daughters would prophesy. This event established the church and marked the beginning of the gospel being preached throughout the world. After Jesus' resurrection and ascension to the throne of God, He received the promised Holy Ghost from the Father and poured out that Spirit upon 120 of His followers on this day, enabling them to prophesy and minister in the fullness of God's presence, power, and glory.

    Scriptures: Acts 1:12-14; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 2:5-11; Acts 2:16-17; Acts 2:17-21; Acts 2:32-33

  3. c. 95 AD

    John's Revelation on Patmos

    The Apocalypse unveiled

While John was exiled on the Isle of Patmos for the word of God and his testimony of Jesus Christ, he received a divine revelation that would become the Book of Revelation. On what is referred to as the Lord's Day, John was taken in the Spirit and heard behind him a great voice like a trumpet. This voice identified itself as Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, instructing John to write everything he would see and send it to the seven churches in Asia.

When John turned to see the voice that spoke with him, he witnessed an extraordinary vision. He saw seven golden candlesticks, and in their midst stood one like the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to his feet and girded with a golden girdle. The glorified Christ appeared with head and hair white like wool and snow, eyes like flames of fire, feet like fine brass as if burned in a furnace, and a voice like the sound of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and from his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword, while his countenance shone like the sun in its strength.

Overwhelmed by this glorious appearance, John fell at Christ's feet as dead. Jesus laid his right hand upon him, providing comfort and declaring himself to be the first and the last, the one who lives and was dead but is now alive forevermore, possessing the keys of hell and death. Christ then gave John a divine framework for documenting his vision, instructing him to write the things he had seen, the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter.

This revelation was transmitted through a divine sequence: God gave the revelation to Jesus Christ, who sent it to John through an angel, and John was commanded to record and deliver it to the Church. The vision John received on Patmos formed the foundation for the entire Book of Revelation, establishing it as a divinely ordered testimony intended for the entire Body of Christ rather than a private vision or personal interpretation.

    Scriptures: Revelation 1:1-2; Revelation 1:9-12; Revelation 1:13-16; Revelation 1:17-18; Revelation 1:11; Revelation 1:19

  4. 1948 AD

    Israel Reborn as a Nation

    1948 prophetic fulfillment

During the period of the Antichrist, the temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem. This rebuilding represents a significant development as it occurs in proximity to Gentile edifices, with the outer court being given to the Gentiles. However, this temple reconstruction serves as further testament to the fact that Israel has not accepted Jesus as their Messiah at this time.

The rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem marks a pivotal moment in biblical prophecy. The temple will be measured, along with the altar and those who worship therein, while the outer court remains unmeasured and is given to the Gentiles. This arrangement will continue for forty-two months, during which the holy city will be trodden under foot by the Gentiles.

This restoration of Israel's religious center occurs as part of God's ongoing plan for His chosen people, even as they enter into an alliance with the Antichrist. The temple's reconstruction represents both a return to ancient practices and a preparation for future events in God's prophetic timeline.

    Scriptures: Revelation 11:1-2; John 5:43

  5. Israel was declared a nation in 1948 AD. Jerusalem was declared the capital of Israel in 2017 AD

In 1948 Israel was declared a nation once more, and in 2017 Jerusalem was declared its capital. For centuries the Jewish people had been scattered among the nations, yet the Lord had spoken through the prophets that He would take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land.

Scripture does not name these dates, and the fullness of Israel's restoration belongs to the reign of Christ, when the nation is cleansed and all Israel shall be saved. But the return of the Jewish people to their land, with Jerusalem in their hands, sets the stage for what the prophets foretold for the last days: the temple rebuilt in Jerusalem, the covenant the Antichrist makes and breaks, and the holy city trodden under foot by the Gentiles for forty and two months.

The Lord said that in that day He would make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people. The city stands at the center of the end time timeline, the place of both the final rebellion against God and the final restoration of His people. Believers are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to watch, for God has not forgotten His covenant.

    Scriptures: Ezekiel 37:21-22; Isaiah 11:11-12; Zechariah 12:3; Revelation 11:1-2; Romans 11:25-26; Psalms 122:6

  6. Present Day

The Body of Christ is at a most crucial time. The signs of the times are clear: wars and rumours of wars, earthquakes in diverse places, and pestilences have wrought through the land. It is therefore crucial that the Body of Christ awake from slumber and prepare for the terrors now approaching.

Truly, we are in days when seducing spirits have been given a great mouthpiece, and many, through willful ignorance, have received lying doctrines that corrupt the soul. Nevertheless, in these last days, the call of the Spirit is sure: the truth - the gospel of the Kingdom - shall be preached in all the world. Those who belong to God will rejoice at the hearing of truth and submit their souls to it.

Seeing the seriousness of these times, it behooves us to be sober. The Father wants us to be aware of the things that are about to befall the Body of Christ. As we seek to perceive the biblical timeline, let us first revisit what the Scripture says about the day of the Lord.

For many in the Church today, the Day of the Lord might seem like a vague idea about future judgment, perhaps causing some unease or being dismissed as too complex or distant for immediate concern. However, a clear understanding of the Day of the Lord is not just for theologians. It is essential for every believer who wants to live holy, honor God, and be prepared for eternity.

This serves as a call to the Church to awaken. It urges us to look seriously at what Scripture says about this coming period. This will be a time of God's direct judgment on sin and rebellion, and the time when His righteous kingdom will be established on earth.

To ignore the Day of the Lord, is to remain spiritually unprepared in the coming judgments. It means misunderstanding the times we live in, and failing to grasp how these truths should affect our lives, our witness, and our relationship with God. The message is serious, but it also contains a loving warning, a call to repentance, and hope for those who are in Christ.

    Scriptures: Acts 2:17-21; Isaiah 2:12; Obadiah 1:15

  7. Emergence of the Antichrist

The emergence of the Antichrist represents a pivotal moment in biblical prophecy, marking the rise of a powerful figure who will bring unprecedented persecution upon God's people. This event must occur before the Day of the Lord begins, as Scripture clearly establishes that the Day of the Lord cannot come until there is first a falling away and the man of sin is revealed. The Antichrist, also called the son of perdition, will oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God, even sitting in the temple of God and showing himself to be God.

The beast rises up out of the sea with seven heads and ten horns, bearing blasphemous names upon his heads. His appearance combines features of a leopard, bear, and lion, and he receives his power, seat, and great authority directly from the dragon, which is Satan. One of his heads appears to be wounded to death, but this deadly wound is healed, causing all the world to wonder after the beast. The earth worships both the dragon who gives power to the beast and the beast himself, saying who is like unto the beast and who is able to make war with him.

The Antichrist is given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, with power to continue for forty-two months. He opens his mouth in blasphemy against God, blaspheming God's name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. Most significantly, it is given unto him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, with power being granted over all kindreds, tongues, and nations. All who dwell upon the earth shall worship him, except those whose names are written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

This persecution of the saints by the Antichrist serves as a test of the patience and faith of God's people. Those who understand among the people shall instruct many, yet they shall fall by the sword, by flame, by captivity, and by spoil for many days. Some of them of understanding shall fall to try them, to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end. The persecution is so severe that the prayers of the saints crying out day and night for vengeance will ultimately trigger God's response through the trumpet judgments.

    Scriptures: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4; Revelation 13:1-10; Daniel 11:32-35; Revelation 6:9-11

  8. 7 Year Treaty Begins

A seven-year treaty marks a significant period in end times events. This treaty period is associated with the emergence of a king of fierce countenance who will understand dark sentences and whose power shall be mighty, though not by his own power. Through his policy, he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand and shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many.

This ruler will speak great words against the most High and will wear out the saints of the most High, thinking to change times and laws. The saints will be given into his hand for a specific duration described as a time and times and the dividing of time. This same timeframe is referenced when describing how long it will take to accomplish the scattering of the power of the holy people, after which all these prophetic things will be finished.

The seven-year period appears to be divided, with the latter half being particularly significant when the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, will stand in the holy place. This will trigger a time of great tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of the world, nor ever shall be again.

    Scriptures: Daniel 8:23-25; Daniel 7:25; Daniel 12:7; Matthew 24:15-22

  9. The Two Witnesses

God will give power unto His two witnesses, and they shall prophesy for a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are described as the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. The witnesses possess supernatural power during their ministry - if any man attempts to hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies. They have power to shut heaven so that it does not rain during the days of their prophecy, and have power over waters to turn them to blood and to smite the earth with all plagues as often as they will.

When they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. Their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also the Lord was crucified. People from all nations shall see their dead bodies for three days and a half, and shall not allow their dead bodies to be put in graves. They that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

After three days and a half, the Spirit of life from God enters into them, and they stand upon their feet, causing great fear to fall upon them which see them. They hear a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. They ascend up to heaven in a cloud while their enemies behold them. In the same hour there is a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city falls. In the earthquake seven thousand men are slain, and the remnant are frightened and give glory to the God of heaven.

The ministry of the two witnesses occurs while the Body of Christ is still on the earth, and they minister for exactly three and a half years, which is the same time the antichrist will bring desolations and abominations to the nation of Israel. Like many other faithful servants, they too will be martyred in the city of Jerusalem.

    Scriptures: Revelation 11:1-2; Revelation 11:3-13; Zechariah 4:3; Zechariah 4:11-14; 1 Kings 17:1; 1 Kings 18:15; Exodus 7:20; Matthew 17:1-5

  10. Treaty is Broken

A future ruler will emerge who initially appears to bring peace but will ultimately break his covenant with those who trust him. This deceptive leader will put forth his hands against those who are at peace with him and break his covenant with them. His words will be smoother than butter, yet war will be in his heart, and his words will be softer than oil, yet they will be like drawn swords.

This king of fierce countenance will understand dark sentences and stand up in the latter time when transgressors have come to the full. Through his policy, he will cause craft to prosper in his hand, and he will magnify himself in his heart. By peace he will destroy many, using deception and false promises to achieve his goals. He will also stand up against the Prince of princes, but he will ultimately be broken without hand.

The breaking of this covenant represents a pattern of betrayal that occurs when worldly alliances are formed against God's will. Those who enter into confederacies and treaties with ungodly powers will find that these alliances prove untrustworthy and lead to their own ruin. The men who were at peace will be deceived and prevailed against, and those who eat bread together will lay wounds under one another.

    Scriptures: Psalms 55:20-23; Daniel 8:23-25

  11. Future - early Tribulation

    The 144,000 Sealed

    Jewish evangelists protected

Before the wrath of God can be poured out on the earth, an angel ascending from the east appears, having the seal of the living God. This angel cries with a loud voice to the four angels who have been given power to hurt the earth and the sea, commanding them to hold back their destructive work until an important task is completed.

The angel instructs that they must not hurt the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, until the servants of God are sealed in their foreheads. John then hears the number of those who are sealed: one hundred and forty-four thousand from all the tribes of the children of Israel. These are described as young male virgins who are innocent and serve the Lord.

This sealing represents a divine protection and marking of God's servants before the trumpet judgments can begin. The four angels who stand on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds so that no wind blows on the earth, sea, or trees, are restrained until this sealing is complete. The sealing of the 144,000 serves as a chronological marker, indicating that the wrath and judgment cannot commence until God's chosen servants are properly protected and marked.

    Scriptures: Revelation 7:1-4

2. Seals

The seven seals of Revelation, opened by the Lamb of God

  1. Future - early Tribulation

    First Seal: The White Horse

    The First Seal

The first seal reveals a white horse with a rider who carries a bow and is given a crown, going forth conquering and to conquer. This seal does not execute events but reveals what is contained within the book in God's hand, serving as a preview of what will be fully developed once the book is opened.

The rider of the white horse is identified as the Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. When the first seal is opened, a crown is given to the rider, which is highly significant as it signals that within the book there will be a transfer of power to the Great Conqueror. The crown points to kingship, revealing that Christ is about to take His place as King of the earth, displacing the rule of the antichrist.

The phrase "conquering, and to conquer" communicates two distinct truths. Going forth conquering indicates that once the book is opened, Christ will be seen actively engaged in battle, overcoming His opponents. Going forth to conquer declares that the final outcome has already been determined - victory is not in question.

The white horse rider stands apart from the other horsemen. While the red horse rider causes war, the black horse rider brings famine, and the pale horse rider oversees death, the white horse rider does not cause conquest for others but is Himself the conqueror. He is an active force operating in both spiritual and physical realms and will be directly present once the book is opened.

The first seal reveals a conquering rider, armed with divine power, crowned for kingship, and advancing toward victory already decreed. Every detail - the horse, the bow, the crown, and the conquest - points forward to what the opened book will reveal in fullness.

    Scriptures: Revelation 6:1-2; Revelation 14:14; Revelation 19:12; Revelation 19:11-12

  2. c. 96 AD

    Second Seal: Red Horse

War and bloodshed unleashed upon the earth

When the second seal is opened, a red horse appears with its rider who is given power to take peace from the earth, resulting in violence and war. The rider receives a great sword, symbolizing his capability for extensive conflict and destruction. The red horse rider is an angel, one of the four spirits of the heavens who go forth from standing in the presence of the Lord of all the earth.

The red horse rider oversees matters pertaining to war and violence on the earth. He has authority to remove peace, resulting in unrest and death, and likewise to permit peace to remain where God so wills. In this sense, he functions as both an instrument of judgment and a restraining force. The rider is given authority to bring war and bloodshed to the earth in the time of the end, introducing a major theme that runs throughout the book of Revelation - war and violence.

As one of the four horsemen who patrol the earth and gather intelligence, the red horse rider reports on global conditions. These horsemen are not symbolic figures but real spiritual entities vested with authority, operating as agents of God in the unseen realm while their influence manifests in the physical realm. The opening of this seal reveals the rider's authority and special functions assigned specifically for the end of days.

    Scriptures: Revelation 6:3-4; Zechariah 6:5; Zechariah 1:10; Zechariah 1:8-12

  3. Future - early Tribulation

    Third Seal: Black Horse

    Famine and scarcity

When the third seal is opened, John beholds a black horse with a rider holding a pair of balances in his hand. A voice from the midst of the four beasts declares that a measure of wheat will cost a penny, and three measures of barley will cost a penny, indicating inflated food costs and economic hardship. However, the voice commands that the oil and wine not be hurt, suggesting certain resources remain protected amidst the scarcity.

The black horse rider commonly symbolizes famine, scarcity, or economic hardship. The balances in the rider's hand reflect the measurement or rationing of food during times of shortage. The high prices announced represent a dramatic increase in the cost of basic necessities, making food extremely expensive and difficult to obtain for ordinary people.

This seal reveals one of the major agents that will be at work throughout the book of Revelation, introducing themes of famine and economic pressure that will manifest once the book is fully opened. The black horse rider is one of the four spirits of the heavens who patrol the earth, operating as a real spiritual entity with authority over matters of food supply and economic conditions during the end times.

    Scriptures: Revelation 6:5-6

  4. Future - early Tribulation

    Fourth Seal: Pale Horse

    Death rides forth

When the fourth seal is opened, John sees a pale horse with a rider named Death, and Hell follows with him. This seal reveals widespread mortality and destruction that will come upon the earth. The pale horse rider is given power and authority over a fourth part of the earth, with the ability to kill through multiple means including sword, hunger, death, and with the beasts of the earth.

The pale color of the horse often corresponds to sickness, decay, or a corpse-like pallor. The rider being named Death, followed by Hell, indicates mortality and the grave. This seal shows the scope of authority that will affect a significant portion of the earth, bringing widespread death through various catastrophic means.

Jesus holds the keys of hell and death, and the pale horse rider is given authority to release death and hell upon the earth. This authority is demonstrated through events like the stinging locusts and the 200,000,000 army that will bring destruction. The fourth seal serves as a preview of the judgment and mortality that will be fully revealed when the sealed book is opened, introducing death as a major agent and theme in the end times.

    Scriptures: Revelation 6:7-8; Revelation 1:18; Revelation 9:1-21

  5. Future - mid Tribulation

Fifth Seal: Martyrs Under the Altar

    Souls cry out for vengeance

When the fifth seal is opened, the souls of those who were slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held are seen under the altar. These martyrs cry out with a loud voice, asking how long the Lord will wait before judging and avenging their blood on those who dwell on the earth. White robes are given to each of them, and they are told to rest for a little season until their fellow servants and brethren who should be killed as they were should be fulfilled.

This seal serves as a foreshadowing of the acts of the antichrist and the seventh trumpet judgment. The fifth seal is revealed in the days of the sixth trumpet and indicates that there will be extreme persecution of the Church before the return of the Lord. The souls of the martyrs are seen under the altar, indicating the sacrifice of their lives for the faith, and their cry for justice reveals that the Church is still on earth at this time.

The fifth seal introduces persecution on the earth and forecasts the persecution and killing that will be manifested in the days of the trumpet judgments, including persecution of the Church by the Antichrist, the overthrowing of nations by the Antichrist, and the destruction and desolation of Israel and their Temple. The seal does not cause martyrdom but reveals that martyrdom is a defining element of the book's content.

    Scriptures: Revelation 6:9-11

  6. Future - mid Tribulation

    Sixth Seal: Great Earthquake

    Cosmic upheaval

When the sixth seal is opened, a great earthquake occurs along with dramatic cosmic disturbances. The sun becomes black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon becomes as blood. The stars of heaven fall unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs when shaken by a mighty wind. The heaven departs as a scroll when it is rolled together, and every mountain and island are moved out of their places.

The kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the chief captains, the mighty men, and every bondman and free man hide themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains. They cry to the mountains and rocks to fall on them and hide them from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb. They acknowledge that the great day of his wrath has come and ask who shall be able to stand.

This seal is unique compared to the others, as it presents a summary of all that is contained within the book. It offers an overview of the Trumpet and Vial Judgments and provides insight into events during the Millennial Reign of Christ and beyond. The people of earth are asking to be hidden from the Lamb, whom they are now able to see as the heavens open up like the opening of a book. They acknowledge that the Day of the Lord's Wrath is at hand, though the wrath itself is not yet poured out. They know by the earthquake, the falling stars, and the opening of Heaven that the wrath of God is about to overtake them.

Before the wrath can be poured out on the earth, two important events must take place. First, the Church is still here and is not appointed to the wrath of God. Second, the 144,000 young male virgins who are innocent and serve the Lord are still here. Four angels are seen standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. The angels are instructed not to hurt the earth until the 144,000 are sealed.

    Scriptures: Revelation 6:12-17; Revelation 7:1; Revelation 7:2-4

  7. Future - mid Tribulation

    Seventh Seal: Silence in Heaven

    Prelude to trumpet judgments

When the seventh seal is opened, the purpose of the seals is complete. There is silence in heaven, not action, because the revelation of the information on the outside of the book has been completely received. Now it is time to receive the information that was hidden within the book.

Seal 7 was the final seal keeping the book closed; once it was opened, the book itself could now be opened and read. Hence the silence in heaven, given in reverence, because the time had come for the once-sealed secrets of God concerning the end to be revealed to all.

What is the first thing that happens once the book is opened and read? Not a seal. Not a horse. The angels with the seven trumpets align and the trumpet judgments begin. This is the first point where events actually unfold on the prophetic timeline.

    Scriptures: Revelation 8:1

3. Great Tribulation

The 7-year period of judgment culminating in Christ's Second Coming

  1. Future - mid Tribulation

    First Trumpet: Hail and Fire

    One third of earth burned

The first trumpet judgment brings a devastating storm of hail and fire mingled with blood that is cast upon the earth. This supernatural disaster results in the complete destruction of all green grass across the planet. Additionally, one third of all trees are burned up in this fiery judgment.

This catastrophic event finds echo in the prophetic writings of the Old Testament. The prophet Joel speaks of fire devouring the pastures of the wilderness and flames burning all the trees of the field, causing the beasts to groan and cry out. Joel also prophesies of wonders in the heavens and earth, specifically mentioning blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.

Ezekiel provides additional confirmation of this judgment, describing God raining upon his enemies an overflowing rain with great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. The prophet also speaks of God kindling a fire that will devour every green tree and every dry tree, with the flaming flame that shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north being burned therein.

    Scriptures: Revelation 8:7; Joel 1:18-20; Joel 2:30; Ezekiel 38:22; Ezekiel 20:46-48

  2. Future - Tribulation

    Second Trumpet: Burning Mountain

    Seas polluted

When the second angel sounds his trumpet, a great mountain burning with fire is cast into the sea. This catastrophic event causes one third of the sea to become blood, resulting in massive death and destruction. One third of all creatures living in the sea die, and one third of the ships are destroyed. This judgment represents divine intervention through fire, demonstrating God's power over the waters and maritime life. The corroborating scriptures show that God has long declared His intention to use fire as an instrument of judgment, consuming the great deep and causing widespread destruction to sea life.

    Scriptures: Revelation 8:8-9; Amos 7:4; Zephaniah 1:3; Hosea 4:3

  3. Future - Tribulation

    Third Trumpet: Star Wormwood

    Waters poisoned

The third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters. The name of the star is called Wormwood, and the third part of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

This judgment specifically targets freshwater sources, affecting one third of rivers and fountains of water. The star called Wormwood poisons these water sources, making them bitter and deadly to those who drink from them. Many people die as a result of consuming the contaminated waters.

This event represents a catastrophic contamination of the earth's freshwater supply, demonstrating God's power over the natural elements and His ability to turn life-sustaining resources into instruments of judgment.

    Scriptures: Revelation 8:10-11; Isaiah 34:4

  4. Future - Tribulation

    Fourth Trumpet: Heavenly Bodies Darkened

    Day and night reduced

When the fourth angel sounds his trumpet, a third part of the sun, moon, and stars are smitten and darkened. This cosmic judgment affects both day and night, with a third part of each being darkened. The sun is darkened in its going forth, and the moon does not cause her light to shine. The stars of heaven and their constellations do not give their light, and all the bright lights of heaven are made dark. This darkening represents a significant cosmic disruption where the heavenly bodies that provide light to the earth are partially diminished in their ability to shine.

The prophetic scriptures speak of the sun going down at noon and the earth being darkened in a clear day. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. The sun and moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. This judgment is part of the day of the Lord, which comes with wrath and fierce anger. The heavens are covered, the stars are made dark, the sun is covered with a cloud, and darkness is set upon the land.

    Scriptures: Revelation 8:12; Amos 8:9; Joel 2:31; Joel 3:15; Isaiah 13:9-10; Ezekiel 32:7-8

  5. Future - Tribulation

Fifth Trumpet: Locust Plague (First Woe)

    Demonic torment unleashed

When the fifth angel sounds his trumpet, a star falls from heaven to earth and is given the key of the bottomless pit. This star opens the bottomless pit, causing thick smoke to rise like the smoke of a great furnace, darkening both the sun and air. Out of this smoke emerge locusts upon the earth, given power like that of scorpions.

These supernatural locusts are commanded not to hurt any vegetation - no grass, green thing, or tree - but only those people who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads. The locusts are given power to torment these unsealed people for five months, but not to kill them. Their torment is described as being like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a person.

During this time of torment, people will seek death but will not find it. They will desire to die, but death will flee from them. The locusts have an extraordinary and terrifying appearance: they are shaped like horses prepared for battle, with crowns like gold on their heads and faces like men. They have hair like women's hair and teeth like lions' teeth. Their breastplates appear to be made of iron, and the sound of their wings is like the sound of chariots with many horses running to battle. They have tails like scorpions with stings, and their power to hurt people lasts for five months.

These locusts have a king over them, who is the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek his name is Apollyon. This completes the first woe, with two more woes to follow.

  6. Future - Tribulation

Sixth Trumpet: Army of 200 Million (Second Woe)

    Euphrates army kills one-third

When the sixth angel sounds his trumpet, a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God commands the angel to loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. These four angels were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. The number of the army of horsemen is two hundred thousand thousand, or 200 million.

The riders have breastplates of fire, jacinth, and brimstone. The horses have heads like lions, and out of their mouths issue fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three plagues - the fire, smoke, and brimstone which issue from their mouths - a third part of men are killed. The horses' power is in their mouth and in their tails, for their tails are like unto serpents with heads, and with them they do hurt.

Despite this devastating judgment that kills one-third of humanity, the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues do not repent of the works of their hands. They continue to worship devils and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see, hear, nor walk. Neither do they repent of their murders, sorceries, fornication, or thefts.

    Scriptures: Revelation 9:13-21; Joel 2:1-11

  7. Future - mid Tribulation

Death and Resurrection of the Two Witnesses

    Prophets killed and raised

After completing their three and a half year ministry of prophecy, the two witnesses face their destined martyrdom. The beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit makes war against them and overcomes them, killing them in the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Their dead bodies lie in the street for three days and a half, visible to people of all nations, kindreds, and tongues. The inhabitants of the earth refuse to allow their bodies to be buried in graves. Instead, they rejoice over the death of these two prophets, making merry and sending gifts to one another because the witnesses had tormented those who dwelt on the earth through their powerful ministry.

After three and a half days, the Spirit of life from God enters into the two witnesses and they stand upon their feet. Great fear falls upon all who witness this miraculous resurrection. A great voice from heaven calls to them saying "Come up hither," and they ascend up to heaven in a cloud while their enemies watch.

In the same hour as their ascension, a great earthquake strikes the city. The tenth part of the city falls, and seven thousand people are killed in the earthquake. The remnant who survive are frightened and give glory to the God of heaven, recognizing His sovereign power even in the midst of global rebellion.

    Scriptures: Revelation 11:7-13

  8. Future - midpoint of Tribulation

    Abomination of Desolation

    Antichrist defiles temple

The Abomination of Desolation refers to an image of the antichrist that will be placed in the temple in Jerusalem as an idol for the world to worship. This event represents a significant desecration of the temple and is definitely an insult to the Jews.

The creation of this image is accomplished through the work of the false prophet, described as another beast coming up out of the earth with two horns like a lamb but speaking as a dragon. This false prophet exercises all the power of the first beast and causes the earth and those who dwell on it to worship the first beast whose deadly wound was healed.

The false prophet deceives those who dwell on the earth by means of miraculous signs, including making fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. Through these deceptions, he tells those on earth that they should make an image to the beast who had the wound by a sword and lived. The false prophet is given power to give life to this image of the beast, so that the image can both speak and cause those who will not worship it to be killed.

This image of the ruling antichrist is placed in the Holy of Holies of the temple in Jerusalem, representing the abomination that makes desolate spoken of by Daniel the prophet. When this occurs, those in Judaea are instructed to flee to the mountains, as this marks the beginning of great tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of the world.

    Scriptures: Mark 13:14; Revelation 13:11-15; Daniel 11:31; Matthew 24:15-22

  9. Future - Tribulation

Seventh Trumpet: Kingdom Proclaimed (Third Woe)

    The mystery of God fulfilled

The seventh angel sounds the trumpet, declaring that the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ. Loud voices in heaven announce Christ's eternal reign. The twenty-four elders worship, giving thanks to God for taking His great power and beginning to reign.

God's wrath is coming, marking the time for judging the dead, rewarding the righteous, and destroying those who destroy the earth. The temple of God in heaven opens, and the ark of His testament is seen. Lightning, thunder, earthquake, and great hail follow this momentous proclamation.

This trumpet represents the culmination of God's plan, as declared by the mighty angel who swore that in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he had declared to his servants the prophets.

    Scriptures: Revelation 11:15-19; Revelation 10:6-7

  10. Future - late Tribulation

    First Bowl: Malignant Sores

    Painful judgment on beast worshipers

The first angel pours out his vial upon the earth, resulting in a noisome and grievous sore breaking out on those who had the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image. These are painful, foul-smelling, and severe ulcers that afflict only those aligned with the beast.

This plague represents part of the seven vials of God's wrath, which are the full and undiluted expression of divine judgment signaling the end of God's longsuffering with a rebellious world. The affected individuals experience excruciating physical suffering through these malignant sores, yet this judgment is specifically targeted at those who have chosen to follow the beast rather than God.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:2; Deuteronomy 28:27; Deuteronomy 28:35

  11. Future - late Tribulation

Second Bowl: Sea Turns to Blood

    All marine life dies

The second angel pours out his vial upon the sea, and it becomes as the blood of a dead man. Every living soul in the sea dies as a result of this judgment. This represents a progression from the second trumpet judgment, wherein one third of the sea became blood and one third of all life in the sea died. Now in the vial of wrath, all the seas of the earth become as the blood of a dead man, and all life in the seas die.

The blood of a dead man is described as thick, dark and with a putrid odor. This plague has been on earth before, as it was brought by Moses in the land of Egypt, when all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood and the fish that was in the river died, causing the river to stink so that the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:3; Exodus 7:17-21

  12. Future - late Tribulation

Third Bowl: Rivers Turn to Blood

    All freshwater becomes blood

The third angel pours out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters, and they become blood. This judgment affects all fresh water sources, turning them into blood just like the sea in the previous plague.

The angel of the waters declares God's righteousness in this judgment, stating that those who shed the blood of saints and prophets are now given blood to drink, for they are worthy of this punishment. Another voice from the altar confirms that God's judgments are true and righteous.

This plague has precedent in history, as it was previously brought by Moses in the land of Egypt. When Moses struck the waters of the river with his rod, all the waters throughout Egypt were turned to blood, the fish died, and the river became foul-smelling so that the Egyptians could not drink from it.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:4-7; Exodus 7:17-21

  13. Future - late Tribulation

    Fourth Bowl: Scorching Sun

    Men scorched with great heat

The fourth angel pours out his vial upon the sun, and power is given unto him to scorch men with fire. Men are scorched with great heat, causing severe burns from the extreme temperature.

Instead of repenting in response to this divine judgment, people blaspheme the name of God, who has power over these plagues. They do not repent or give Him glory despite witnessing His supernatural power through the intense heat.

This judgment appears to be connected to the earlier fourth trumpet judgment, where the sun was smitten for one third of the day. Since there is no record that the sun was ever restored to shine 24 hours a day, it follows that for the eight hours of the day in which the sun was allowed to shine, it became so hot that it scorched men with fire.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:8-9

  14. Future - late Tribulation

Fifth Bowl: Darkness on Beast's Kingdom

    Kingdom plunged into darkness

The fifth angel pours out his vial upon the seat of the beast, and his kingdom becomes full of darkness. The people gnaw their tongues for pain as they suffer from this supernatural darkness along with the sores and scorching from the previous plagues.

The earth is made completely dark, and there is no relief for the suffering people. In their agony, they blaspheme the God of heaven because of their pains and sores, yet they still do not repent of their deeds. This darkness is reminiscent of the thick darkness that fell upon Egypt, a darkness that could be felt.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:10-11; Lamentations 3:1-2; Exodus 10:21-23; Joel 2:1-2; Isaiah 13:9-10; Zephaniah 1:14-17; Jeremiah 13:16

  15. Future - end of Tribulation

    Sixth Bowl: Euphrates Dried Up

Way prepared for kings of east

The sixth angel pours out his vial upon the great river Euphrates, and the water thereof is dried up. This drying of the Euphrates prepares the way for the kings of the east to march.

Three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. These are spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world. Their purpose is to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

The deceived kings and their armies are gathered together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. This sets the stage for the final great battle.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:12-16; Jeremiah 46:6-10

  16. Future - end of Tribulation

    Seventh Bowl: Greatest Earthquake

    It is done!

The seventh angel pours out his vial into the air, and a great voice comes from the temple of heaven, from the throne, declaring "It is done." This final judgment brings about the most catastrophic earthquake in human history, described as greater than any earthquake since men were upon the earth, so mighty and so great.

The earthquake causes unprecedented global destruction. The great city is divided into three parts, and all the cities of the nations fall. Every island flees away, and the mountains are no longer found, indicating a complete reshaping of the earth's geography. Great Babylon comes into remembrance before God, receiving the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

Accompanying this greatest earthquake are voices, thunders, and lightnings from heaven. A devastating hailstorm follows, with hailstones weighing about a talent each, approximately seventy-five to one hundred pounds. Despite these overwhelming judgments, men continue to blaspheme God because of the plague of hail, which is described as exceedingly great. This final bowl judgment represents the completion of God's wrath upon the earth.

    Scriptures: Revelation 16:17-21; Ezekiel 38:19-20; Isaiah 2:19-21; Isaiah 28:17-18; Isaiah 32:18-19; Isaiah 30:30; 2 Peter 2:9

  17. Triumphant return of Christ

Christ's triumphant return to earth is distinct from the rapture when the Church is caught up to meet Him in the air. Upon Christ's return to the earth, He does not come on a cloud, but on a white horse, prepared for war. This will occur after the Church has been caught up to be with Him and the wrath of God has been poured out upon the earth.

Every living person will witness this event as there will be no secret rapture. It will be glorious and devastating, with many wailing and crying out for mercy, though at that point it will be too late. This will be a moment of great joy and peace for those who are of God and have run the race with patience and walked in obedience.

When Jesus returns, He will come with great radiance, shining like the sun, with power flowing from His very being. His presence will release plagues and judgments upon the nations, and the very structure of the earth will be affected. He will descend and set His feet upon the Mount of Olives, the very place from which He ascended, and the mountain will split in two, forming a great valley between the divided parts.

Immediately after the War of Armageddon, the Kingdom of Christ is established and the Church rules and reigns with Him during the millennial reign. The Lord shall be king over all the earth, establishing global peace where nations will beat their swords into plowshares and learn war no more.

    Scriptures: Revelation 1:7; Zechariah 14:9; Zechariah 14:4; Acts 1:11-12; Isaiah 2:2-4; Habakkuk 3:3; Habakkuk 3:4; Habakkuk 3:5-7

  18. Future - end of Tribulation

    Second Coming of Christ

    Every eye will see Him

The Scripture in Hebrews 9:28 explains that Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Though often misunderstood as Christ's return from heaven to earth on a white horse to establish His kingdom and rule for a thousand years, this Scripture actually refers to the moment one receives the Holy Ghost. Jesus died on the cross and paid for sins, and now, for those who seek His Spirit, He will return to them by entering their lives in the form of the Holy Spirit. This is confirmed in Acts 3:19-20, where it is stated that Jesus Christ will be sent to those who repent.

Scripture also describes Christ's future return to earth, when He comes not on a cloud but on a white horse, prepared for war. This will be after the Church is caught up to be with Him and the wrath of God is poured out upon the earth. Every living person will witness this event, which will be glorious and devastating. Many will wail and cry out for mercy, but at that point it will be too late. This will be a moment of great joy and peace for those who are of God and have run the race with patience and walked in obedience, as they are caught up to be with the Lord.

Matthew 25:31-46 describes when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. Before him shall be gathered all nations, and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats. The saints will participate in judging not only those who are alive at Christ's return to the earth, but also those who are born during the Millennium, those who rise in the second resurrection, and even the angels who departed from God.

    Scriptures: Hebrews 9:28; Acts 3:19-20; Matthew 25:31-46; 1 Corinthians 6:2; Revelation 1:7

  19. Future - end of Tribulation

    Battle of Armageddon

    The final conflict

The Battle of Armageddon begins with the gathering of armies from the sixth vial judgment, when three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, beast, and false prophet. These demonic spirits work miracles and go forth to gather the kings of the earth and the whole world to battle in a place called Armageddon in the Hebrew tongue.

After the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, Christ prepares for war. Heaven opens and Christ appears on a white horse, called Faithful and True, making righteous war. His eyes are as flames of fire, He wears many crowns, and has a name written that no man knows but Himself. He is clothed with a vesture dipped in blood and is called The Word of God. The armies of heaven follow Him on white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Christ's weapon is not carnal but spiritual - a sharp sword that proceeds from His mouth. With this sword of His spoken Word, He smites the nations and rules them with a rod of iron, treading the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. He bears the title King of Kings and Lord of Lords on His vesture and thigh.

The beast, kings of the earth, and their armies gather to make war against Christ and His army. However, the battle is swift and decisive. The beast and false prophet are taken and cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. The remnant of their armies are slain with the sword that proceeds from Christ's mouth.

The power of Christ's spoken Word is devastating. At His voice, the flesh, eyes, and tongues of His enemies consume away while they stand upon their feet. His Word causes great confusion among them, turning their hands against one another. The slaughter is so great that blood flows to the height of a horse's bridle for about two hundred miles.

After the victory, Christ's feet stand upon the Mount of Olives, causing it to split in two and form a great valley. Following the battle, an angel standing in the sun calls all fowls and beasts to the Supper of the Great God, where they consume the flesh of kings, captains, mighty men, horses, and all men both free and bond.

4. Millennium

The 1000-year reign of Christ on Earth

  1. Future - 1000 years

    Christ's Millennial Reign Begins

    The King on David's throne

Immediately after the War of Armageddon, the Kingdom of Christ is established and the Church rules and reigns with Him. The Lord shall be king over all the earth, and in that day there shall be one Lord, and his name one.

The Millennial Reign begins with Christ judging the poor with righteousness and reproving with equity for the meek of the earth. He shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

During this time, the earth experiences unprecedented peace and transformation. The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid. The calf and the young lion and the fatling shall be together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall feed, their young ones shall lie down together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all God's holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

The mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. Many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Judgment is given unto the saints, and they sat upon thrones. The souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands, lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. The sons of God rule the earth along with Christ, judging with righteousness and doing justice to the poor, ensuring that the people have peace, providing for those who are needy and ensuring that no one is oppressed.

    Scriptures: Zechariah 14:9; Isaiah 11:4-10; Isaiah 2:2-4; Revelation 20:4; Psalms 72:1-5

  2. Future - beginning of Millennium

    Satan Bound

    The deceiver imprisoned

When the reign of Christ begins, John sees an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He lays hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and binds him a thousand years. Satan is cast into the bottomless pit and shut up, and a seal is set upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years are fulfilled.

The deceiver who has worked through seducing spirits and lying doctrines from the beginning is removed from the earth for the whole of the Millennium. With Satan bound, the nations live under the righteous rule of the King and of the saints who reign with Him, and the earth is full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

His binding is not yet his final end. Scripture says that after this he must be loosed a little season. When the thousand years are expired he is released for a short time, and then he is cast into the lake of fire for ever.

    Scriptures: Revelation 20:1-3; Isaiah 11:9; Revelation 20:7

  3. Kingdom is established on earth

After the resurrection of the wicked dead and the casting of Death and Hell into the lake of fire, the Father creates a new heaven and a new earth where there are no oceans to separate the nations. The tabernacle of God comes to dwell with men, and God himself will be with them as their God. All tears, death, sorrow, crying, and pain will be wiped away as the former things pass away.

A pure river of water of life flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb, with the tree of life bearing twelve manner of fruits monthly, its leaves for the healing of the nations. The people will speak a pure language to call upon the name of the LORD and serve him with one consent. The earth becomes a paradise again for mankind, made better than before, with man restored to speaking one language as prophesied by the prophets of old.

The Father's eternal purpose, revealed in the dispensation of Grace and Truth, extends beyond restoring the earth. He purposed to set up the Kingdom of Heaven to rule the earth. All who are in Christ are the Sons of God and part of the Royal family. They are divine, needing no healing leaves, serving as judges of the world and the angelic host. They are not judged in the judgment but are judged in this life. Those who walk in the spirit sit with Jesus in his throne as eternal citizens of New Jerusalem, representing the mystery that was hidden in the Father.

    Scriptures: Revelation 21:1; Revelation 21:3-4; Revelation 22:1-2; Zephaniah 3:9

  4. Future - during Millennium

    Millennial Temple

    Glory returns to Jerusalem

During the Millennial Reign of Christ, worship will be conducted in the Lord's house with sacred vessels and offerings. The pots in the Lord's house shall be like the bowls before the altar, and every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts. All those who sacrifice shall come and take of them and use them for cooking their offerings.

The sons of Levi will be purified to serve as priests, refined as gold and silver, so that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. The offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old and as in former years. The bells of the horses will bear the inscription 'Holiness Unto The Lord,' indicating the sacred nature of all things during this period.

All the house of Israel will serve the Lord in His holy mountain, the mountain of the height of Israel. There the Lord will accept them and require their offerings, the firstfruits of their oblations, and all their holy things. In that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts, ensuring the purity of worship in the temple.

    Scriptures: Zechariah 14:20-21; Malachi 3:3-4; Ezekiel 20:40

  5. Future - end of Millennium

    Satan Released

    The final deception

When the thousand years are expired, Satan is loosed out of his prison. Scripture had already said that after the thousand years he must be loosed a little season, so his release is not a defeat for God's plan but part of the order that brings history to its close.

Once freed, he returns at once to what he has always done: he deceives. He goes out to the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, and gathers them together to battle, a number as the sand of the sea. Even after a thousand years of peace under the reign of Christ, there remain those who follow the deceiver the moment he is loosed.

His release becomes the final test of the nations that lived through the Millennium. Their rebellion is short. Fire comes down from God out of heaven and devours them, and the devil that deceived them is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are.

    Scriptures: Revelation 20:3; Revelation 20:7-8; Revelation 20:9-10

  6. Future - end of Millennium

    Final Rebellion Crushed

    Fire from heaven

At the end of the Millennium, Satan is released from the bottomless pit where he had been bound for a thousand years. Once freed, Satan goes out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, called Gog and Magog, gathering them together for battle. The number of those deceived is described as being like the sand of the sea.

This massive army goes up on the breadth of the earth and surrounds the camp of the saints and the beloved city of Jerusalem, laying siege to it. However, their rebellion is swiftly and decisively crushed when fire comes down from God out of heaven and devours them completely.

Following this final destruction, the devil who deceived them is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet already are, and he shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. This marks the end of Satan's influence and the final crushing of all rebellion against God.

    Scriptures: Revelation 20:7-10

  7. Future - end of Millennium

    Great White Throne Judgment

    The books are opened

At the end of the Millennium, after Satan is released from the bottomless pit and his final rebellion is defeated, the Great White Throne Judgment takes place. This is the final judgment where the wicked dead are resurrected to stand before God.

John sees a great white throne and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them. The dead, both small and great, stand before God as the books are opened. Another book is also opened, which is the book of life. The dead are judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

At this judgment, Jesus will use the keys of death and hell to empty death and hell by resurrecting the wicked dead to stand before judgment. This is the second resurrection, known as the Resurrection of the Wicked, which follows after the Millennium and the final defeat of Satan's rebellion.

    Scriptures: Revelation 20:11; Revelation 20:12; Revelation 20:13

  8. Future - beginning of Millennium

    Restoration of Israel

    All Israel shall be saved

During the Millennial reign of Christ, Israel will experience a comprehensive restoration as God brings His people back from captivity and establishes them in their promised land. The Lord will gather the children of Israel from among the nations where they have been scattered and bring them into their own land, making them one nation upon the mountains of Israel under one king. They will no longer be divided into two kingdoms but will be cleansed from all their transgressions and idolatry.

The restoration includes both spiritual and physical renewal. God will cleanse Israel from all their iniquities and cause them to dwell in cities while the waste places are rebuilt. The desolate land that once lay barren will be tilled and cultivated, transforming into something resembling the garden of Eden. The waste, desolate, and ruined cities will become fortified and inhabited once again.

Israel will engage in productive agricultural work, building houses and inhabiting them, planting vineyards and eating their fruit, and making gardens. They will not labor in vain or face the troubles of previous generations, as they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord. The people will build the waste cities and inhabit them, drink wine from their own vineyards, and eat fruit from their own gardens.

A remnant of Israel will be saved and will no longer rely on those who previously oppressed them, but will stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. This remnant will return to the mighty God, and though Israel may be numerous as the sand of the sea, it is this faithful remnant that will experience the fullness of restoration. The surrounding nations will witness this transformation and recognize that the Lord has rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate.

    Scriptures: Amos 9:14; Ezekiel 36:33-36; Ezekiel 37:21-28; Isaiah 65:21-23; Isaiah 10:20-23; Zephaniah 3:14-15

  9. Future - during Millennium

    Nations Come to Jerusalem

    Annual pilgrimage to worship

The Lord declares that He will gather all nations and bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat to plead with them concerning His people Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and divided His land. The nations are called to assemble themselves and come, with all the heathen gathering together round about. The Lord will sit in the valley of Jehoshaphat to judge all the heathen round about.

In the day of the Lord, all nations will be gathered against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken. However, those who are left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. Any family of the earth that does not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King shall receive no rain, and nations that do not come up to keep the feast of tabernacles will be punished.

During this time, all kings shall fall down before Him and all nations shall serve Him. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents, and the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. Every one that is left of the nations will come to worship and acknowledge the Lord's dominion.

The New Heaven and New Earth: eternal state

    New Jerusalem Descends

    The bride adorned

At the end of the Millennium, after Satan is cast into the lake of fire and the White Throne Judgement takes place, followed by the Second Resurrection of the wicked, eternity begins with a new heaven, new earth, and New Jerusalem.

John saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea. He saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. A great voice from heaven proclaimed that the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

God will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away. A pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeds out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street and on either side of the river is the tree of life, which bears twelve manner of fruits and yields her fruit every month, and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

All who are in Christ are the Sons of God and part of the Royal family. They are Divine and in no need of any healing leaves. They are the judges of the world and the angelic host. They are not judged in the judgment, for they are judged in this life. They are with Jesus in his throne. They are eternal and are the citizens of New Jerusalem.
